![]() Although females reach sexual maturity at 4-5 years, they do not have their first calf until they are 6.5-7 years old. However, there are just two female northern white rhinos left in the world. Mother and daughters may stay together for long periods of time, while a female without offspring may join up with a neighbouring female. Kenya, South Africa, Namibia, and Zimbabwe are home to the southern white rhino. It’s fitting for this large, ponderous animal that can crash through just about anything in its way! The Safari Park has the largest crash of rhinos and the most successful captive breeding program for rhinos anywhere in the world. Female Black Rhinos reach sexual maturity around 45 years old but have their first calf at around 6.57. Life cycle Adult black rhinos are mostly solitary. Of the five rhino species, the white rhino is the largest: it can weigh 5,000 pounds (2,300 kilograms). Northern white rhinos are extinct in the wild, and only two adult females are left on Earth. Depending on age and gender, they can weigh anywhere from 800 to 1400 kilograms. Although the species is referred to as black, its colours vary from brown to grey. The black rhinoceros is a large mammal, typically between 1 and 1.4 meters tall and 3-3.8 meters long, with males being larger than females. Female rhinoceroses did not conceive before 8 months after giving birth and some females (n2) most likely aborted after 3.03.5 months of gestation. The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species lists black rhinos as Critically Endangered and southern white rhinos as Near Threatened. The black rhinoceros, black rhino or hook-lipped rhinoceros ( Diceros bicornis) is a species of rhinoceros, native to eastern and southern Africa including Angola, Botswana, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Eswatini, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Other names used for these two species are broad-lipped and hook-lipped. The more narrow, prehensile lip of the black rhino is great for pulling leaves and shrubs into its mouth. The wide mouth of the white rhino is perfect for grazing on grasses. Black rhinos and white rhinos are the same color-a brownish gray! Both live in eastern and southern Africa but eat different foods.
